ATLANTA, Ga. — A 58-year-old Atlantic County man has been sentenced in federal court in Atlanta to serve 12 years in prison for attempting to entice a minor to have sex.

Tobin Nilsen, an attorney from Buena Vista Township, was sentenced Tuesday. Prosecutors say he met a woman online and convinced her to let him have sexual access to her 7-year-old daughter, unaware that the woman was an undercover FBI agent.

Nilsen then told the agent to prepare the girl for the encounter by exposing her daughter to images of child pornography.

He was extradited to Georgia and pleaded guilty in September.

However, prior to his flight to Atlanta, Nilsen was arrested in Bergen County when he sought to meet a different minor female. He was charged with attempted aggravated sexual assault, child luring and attempt to endanger the welfare of a minor for the Bergen County arrest.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office’s Computer Crimes Task Force conducted the investigation. Additionally, police from Maywood, Montvale and Upper Saddle River assisted, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.
