Christie to make announcement on homeless policy

ATLANTIC CITY — Gov. Chris Christie is scheduled to make an announcement regarding the homeless in New Jersey.

The Republican governor will be in Atlantic City on Tuesday afternoon.

Christie is set to meet with clients of an Atlantic County program designed to coordinate services for the homeless from government agencies and private groups.

A study released last year estimated that 25,000 people in New Jersey are homeless over the course of a year.

One-third of them have mental health issues. And nearly one-third have been homeless for more than a year.
