A Millville man died in a one-car crash in Cumberland County Friday morning and police said alcohol may have been a factor.

State Police responded to a one-vehicle accident at milepost 1.8 on Port Elizabeth-Cumberland Road in Maurice River Township at 7:15 a.m. The vehicle driven by Donald J. Anderson, 32, of Millville, was driving at a high rate of speed when it did not turn at a curve, struck several trees and overturned, police said.

Anderson’s passenger Ronald Rabe, 22, of Millville, was found dead at the scene, police said.

Anderson was extracted from the vehicle and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City via helicopter with critical injuries, police said.

Police said preliminary investigation indicates alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, but the investigation is ongoing.
