An Atlantic City man was arrested after he fled police and discarded a loaded gun Friday, police said.

Officers James Karins and Brian Hambrecht were patrolling near Brigantine Homes just before 1 p.m., when they tried to stop a man they recognized, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.

But when they stopped him, the man ran and was seen getting rid of a gun, according to the report.

The loaded handgun was recovered in the area of 1120 Brigantine Blvd.

Lindsey Shannon, 26, was arrested in the Brigantine Homes parking lot.

He was placed on a warrant for unlawful possession of a handgun, obstruction and resisting arrest.
