EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — A pedestrian from New York was seriously hurt Sunday night when he was hit by a car in West Atlantic City, police said.

Maria Fotiou, 18, of the township, was driving east on the Black Horse Pike near Fox Place at 11:17 p.m. when her vehicle struck Farooq Azad, 56, of the Bronx, New York, police said in a statement.

Azad was treated at the scene by members of the township Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics and was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, in Atlantic City.

Police Officer Robert Moran of the Traffic Safety Unit is investigating.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — Police are investigating a crash that injured a pedestrian Sunday night in West Atlantic City.

Maria Fotiou, 18, of the township, was driving east on the Black Horse Pike near Fox Place at 11:17 p.m. when her vehicle struck Farooq Azad, 56, of the Bronx, New York, police said in a statement.

Azad was treated at the scene by members of the township Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics and was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, in Atlantic City. Police described his injuries as serious.

Officer Robert Moran of the Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit is investigating.
