Michigan Ave fatal shooting

Police respond to the scene of a shooting Monday evening in the 1100 block of North Michigan Avenue in Atlantic City. Authorities say the man died later Monday.

ATLANTIC CITY — A city man was identified Tuesday as the man fatally shot in the resort the night before.

The body of Alexander Campbell, 25, was found by police just before 6 p.m. on the 1100 block of Michigan Avenue, according to a release from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The prosecutor and city police are still investigating.

There were 13 murders in Atlantic City last year, according to the State Police Uniform Crime Reporting Unit, and a dozen the year before.

From January through March of last year, there were six murders, according to the report, with only one during that same time this year.
