GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — The Club III development has been the site of a shooting and stabbing over the last two weeks.
On Monday night, police responded to the development after calls about a shooting. Patrice Dowe, 19, was found with two gunshot wounds and was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, in Atlantic City, police said. He was in stable condition.
Neighbors in the apartment complex, located on Federal Court, first heard the gun shots about 9:20 p.m.
Resident Danni Johnson, 23, said the complex has seen an increase in violent activity in the past two months.
“It's sad to say but this is just normal now,” he said, adding he believes the violence is gang-related.
The incident is under investigation, and no suspects have been identified.
On Tuesday, police also announced that officers on March 20 had found a man stabbed in the development.
Township police responded to the wooded area between Federal and Liberty Court in the development after receiving a report of a stabbing. They found Thomas Lugo with multiple stab wounds to his abdomen, back and shoulder. He was transported by ambulance to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus Trauma Unit for treatment.
Three suspects were arrested within three days of that incident and charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. Police identified 18-year-old Dominique Holloway, of Galloway, as one of those charged; two juveniles were also charged.
Police said they initially planned to release information about the incident when a fourth suspect — 21-year-old Oliver Blackson of Pleasantville — was arrested. However, he remains at large and police on Tuesday sought the public’s help in locating him.
Holloway is the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $100,000 bail. The juveniles were in the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center awaiting a court appearance.
Lugo has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home, police said.
Anyone with information to assist in the investigation or in locating Blackson is asked to contact the Galloway Township Police Department at 609-652-3705 ext. 463 or call the Crime Stoppers tipline at 609-652-1234.
