ABSECON — Police are looking for a bank robber who used a taxi as his transportation — and for his getaway.
A man in his late 20s to early 30s entered the TD Bank on the White Horse Pike just before 9 a.m. and handed the teller a note demanding money, police said.
Absecon Police Chief David Risley said no weapon was seen, and the man left with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police have released two stills of the man taken from the bank's video surveillance. He is described as a 6-foot-tall white male with a slim to medium build, red hair and a short beard and moustache.
The suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue or green short over gray sweatpants and gray or white gardening style gloves, police said.
Risley said the suspect took the taxi to the bank and then left in the same cab that was later found in Pleasantville with its driver, but not the suspect.
The driver was detained and questioned by police, but it does not appear that he is involved, Risley said.
The robbery is being investigated by Absecon and Pleasantville Police departments along with the FBI. Anyone with information is asked to contact Absecon Police Detective Sgt. Robert Ponzetti at 609-641-0667, ext 215.
