Three males - including two teens - were taken into custody and two guns recovered after a vehicle pursuit that began in Pleasantville and went through two towns.
The chase began when the driver failed to pull over for a motor vehicle stop by Officer Kamen Potts about 5:30 p.m., Chief Jose Ruiz said. It ended outside the Retro Fitness near the Egg Harbor Township-Northfield border.
The males ran from the vehicle, but were apprehended by Officer Dave Aristizabal and members of the Pleasantville, Egg Harbor Township, Northfield and Linwood police departments.
"When we got out there, the public also assisted us in pointing out locations and directions where the suspects fled," Ruiz said.
Police also found two handguns inside the car, Ruiz said. They have not yet been examined to see if they were loaded or are stolen.
Rashad Alston, 21, and two 17-year-old males were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and resisting arrest. Alston, who was driving, also was charged with eluding. He is jailed in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $50,000 bail.
Alston was one of eight men arrested last year in a months-long drug and guns investigation, according to previous Press of Atlantic City reports.
The two teens were taken to Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center in Egg Harbor City.
"If wasn't for the teamwork and cooperation, it may not have been as successful as it turned out," Ruiz said.
