LOWER TOWNSHIP - Two unemployed county residents were arrested and charged with drug possession, in unrelated incidents, on the evening of Aug. 30.
Within half an hour, police arrested William S. Murray, 25, of Villas, and Ralph E. Watson, 51, of Green Creek that evening.
Murray was spotted by an officer at 9 p.m. as he was exiting a vehicle in Villas, police said. Murray was wanted in connection with a burglary from Aug. 3 in the area and had a warrant out for contempt of court from Middle Township.
Murray was searched and arrested in the area of Yuma and West Wilde Avenue, police said. He had a hypodermic syringe, nine bags of heroin and six narcotic pills without a prescription.
Murray was arrested and taken to Cape May County jail with bail set at $50,000.
In a separate incident that evening, Watson was pulled over by an officer for a traffic stop in the area of Bayshore Road and Pontaxit Avenue in North Cape May, police said. The officer smelled marijuana in the car and searched the vehicle.
Police found a bag of marijuana and a packet of rolling papers. Watson was arrested and charged with drug possession and was issued several motor vehicle summonses, police said. He was released from the police station.
