An Egg Harbor Township man has been charged with killing a Pleasantville man found shot to death inside a motel early Tuesday.

Randal Scott, 21, was arrested at the Courtesy Inn on the 2500 block of Tilton Road after Curtis Watson, 20, was found shot to death inside at about 12:30 a.m., acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain said.

Egg Harbor Township police responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired, and — with the help of the Atlantic County Emergency Response Team — got into a room where they found Watson dead, McClain said.

Scott is charged with murder and weapons offenses.

This is the seventh homicide in Atlantic County this year.

It is the first killing in Egg Harbor Township since a Pennsylvania woman drowned her 9-month-old daughter and killed herself inside the Econo Lodge on July 21, 2011. In February of that same year, Harry Schuman fatally shot Ralph Tozer Jr., 27, at the Atlantic Gardens mobile park in the township. Schuman is serving a 20-year sentence for that crime.

Anyone with information about Watson’s killing is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit at 609-909-7800 or the Egg Harbor Township police at 609-927-5200.
