Police said the shooting occurred at 12:11 a.m., when two men with scarves covering their faces approached the card game and demanded money. The card players refused to oblige, and a fight broke out, police said.

As the two suspects ran from the scene, one of them turned around and fired three shots into the group, police said.

The suspects ran north on Bank Street and east on Seibel Street. The gunshot victim, who was not identified, was treated at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland.

Police described the suspects as two black males, one of whom was short and heavyset. The other was tall and skinny, police said.
