MIDDLE TOWNSHIP — A township man has been charged with the heroin-induced death of a man from the Burleigh section, Cape May County and township authorities announced Friday.
Police found Sonny Sinnerard, 23, dead from an apparent drug overdose Wednesday at a home on Meadow Valley Road, where they had gone in response to a 911 call, according to a joint press release from acting Cape May County Prosecutor Robert W. Johnson and township police Chief Christopher Leusner.
A joint investigation by police detectives and the Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit led officers to Daniel Osmundsen, 26, of Middle Township, who police said sold Sinnerard suspected heroin in the early morning hours of Oct. 25.
Osmundsen was charged with first-degree strict liability for drug-induced death, two counts of third-degree possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and two counts of third-degree possession of CDS.
Osmundsen was taken to the county jail to await a court date.
If convicted of a first-degree crime, Osmundsen is subject to 10 to 20 years in prison, Johnson said. Third-degree crimes carry a sentence of three to five years in prison.
