Police are searching for an SUV which caused a vehicle to run off the road and strike a utility pole, resulting in a power outage Monday afternoon in Stafford Township.

The accident occurred at about 2:22 p.m. on westbound Route 72, at mile post 21.3, police said.

A green van, driven by Anthony Tabbachino, 63, of Oakland, was cut off by a silver or white SUV, causing Tabbachino to veer off the road and crash into a utility pole, police said.

Tabbachino was taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center for minor injuries, police said.

A total of 3,600 Atlantic City Electric customers were affected, said spokesman Frank Tedesco. A majority had power restored in three hours, but all power was restored by 6:15 p.m.

Anyone with information is asked to call Stafford police at (609) 597-1189 x 8456.
