A male who shot himself in Atlantic City early Wednesday morning was later linked to the burglary of a gas station’s mini-mart, police said.
Police responding to the shooting found Sean Whaley, 18, at a guest room in the 1600 block of Absecon Boulevard with a towel wrapped around his injured hand, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.
Whaley was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus, but police were unable to find the gun.
K-9 Officer George Adams then had his partner, Grip, search for the gun — which he found in minutes.
An investigation by Detective Tom Holton and Investigator Patrick Flanagan, of the Forensics Unit, then linked Whaley to a burglary at the A.C. Gas Station on the 1400 block of Absecon Boulevard.
Evidence from the burglary was found inside Whaley’s room, McMenamin said. He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and theft.
