VINELAND — Two men were charged with DUI and DWI Thursday following separate crashes in the city.

Police went to West Weymouth Road and North West Avenue after a two-vehicle crash involving a mail truck, Sgt. Nicholas Dounoulis said in a statement Friday.

A postal worker was delivering mail to a home on West Weymouth when his truck was struck from behind.

The other driver, Zachary Blowers, 25, of Malaga, Gloucester County, showed signs of drug impairment and failed field sobriety tests on scene, Dounoulis said. He was taken to a hospital, where he provided blood and urine samples to be tested.

Blowers complained of pain and was treated at the hospital, Dounoulis said.

Blowers is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol/narcotics, reckless driving and operating a vehicle while suspended.

In the second incident, a Millville man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a two-vehicle crash at North West and Osburn avenues.

Carmelo Martinez, 42, was unable to complete field sobriety tests following the crash, Dounoulis said. He was taken to police headquarters, where he provided breath samples over the legal limit.

He was charged with DWI, DWI within 1,000 feet of a school zone, reckless driving, being an unlicensed driver, operating a vehicle while suspended and improper passing.
