HAMMONTON — A Camden woman was killed and three other people injured Sunday night in a two-car crash on the Atlantic City Expressway.
State troopers from the expressway station responded to the crash near westbound mile marker 23.9 at 8:47 p.m., Lt. Ted Schafer said.
A Honda Pilot driven by Luis Cream, 35, of Blackwood, Camden County, struck the back of a Honda Odyssey driven by Brenda Reyes, 35, of Sicklerville, Camden County, Schafer said.
The Odyssey spun, struck a guardrail and reentered the road before coming to rest in the center lane. Reyes and her passenger, Michael Holness, 35, of Sicklerville, suffered minor injuries, Schafer said. He said he did not know to which hospital they were taken.
The Honda Pilot went through a guardrail, overturned and landed in a retention basin.
Cream’s passenger, Jalina Steele, 32, of Camden, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, Schafer said. He said he did not know to which hospital campus she was taken. Cream also suffered injuries in the crash. The extent of his injuries were not known.
An autopsy for Steele, who would have turned 33 on Monday, was scheduled for later Monday.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Charges against Cream are pending, Schafer said.
