A Dennis Township man today pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court on dcharges of transporting a minor over state lines to engage in sexual activity, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

In August 2012, Michael Kulick, 46, and his family went on a vacation to Lancaster, Pa. with his daughter’s friend, a 15-year-old girl. Kulick engaged in sexual contact with the girl at a Pennsylvania hotel and continued to have a sexual relationship with her for about two months. Kulick admitted he knew at the time it was illegal to commit statutory rape in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Kulick’s offense is punishable by a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and restitution for the victim. He will be required to serve at least five years of supervised release. Sentencing is scheduled for May 13.

Fishman credited the FBI Atlantic City resident agency and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s office with aiding the investigation.
