DENNIS TOWNSHIP -- A Dennis Township man died Tuesday after a tree limb he was cutting fell on him, family members said.

Frank Smith, of the 200 block of Kings Highway, in the Clermont section of the township, was on a ladder when the accident occurred, Carl Marino, Smith's brother-in-law, said. Police did not immediately release his age.

According to Marino, of Middle Township, the incident occurred between 2:30 and 3 p.m. while Smith was trimming the 50-foot Oak tree in his front yard.

Smith was cutting limbs away from power lines, Marino said.

Members the Ocean View Volunteer Fire Company, the Belleplain Rescue Squad and State Police from barracks in Woodbine responded to the accident.

Police on scene Tuesday afternoon would not comment about the incident and declined to identify the victim.

Neighbors said Smith was recently retired from the Woodbine Developmental Center where he worked as a plumber. He liked to build and race cars at Atco Speedway.
