An arraignment for Egg Harbor Township endocrinologist Dr. James Kauffman, originally scheduled for Thursday, will be held Sept. 28, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Kauffman, of Linwood, will appear in Atlantic County Superior Court next week after being indicted earlier this month on weapons charges and one obstruction charge. The counts stem from a 45-minute armed standoff that occurred as a search warrant was executed June 13 by the Prosecutor’s Office, with FBI agents and local police agencies.

Kauffman, 68, has been in custody since his arrest in the standoff as police attempted to execute the warrant at his medical office in Egg Harbor Township.
