EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — Four residents were arrested this week after a complaint of electricity theft led police to an elaborate marijuana production facility, police said.
Police arrested Daemen Reese, 40, and Nicole Taurino-Reese, 46, on gun and drug charges, and Breanne Coucoules, 26, and Brandon Reese, 21, on drug and tampering charges.
Atlantic City Electric reported about 11 a.m. Tuesday that a home in the 300 block of Glenn Avenue was bypassing a meter.
Investigating officers smelled raw marijuana coming from the house and saw evidence of a grow house, police said in a news release. Police arrested all four people in the house without incident.
A search that included the Atlantic County SWAT team found an elaborate marijuana production facility in the basement, police said.
Police said they seized almost 20 pounds of marijuana in forms including edibles, wax, oils, liquids and plants, $2,700 in cash and a defaced SIG Sauer handgun.
Daemen Reese and Taurino-Reese were charged with possessing a defaced handgun, a firearm while committing a drug crime, marijuana with intent to distribute and drug paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence.
Brandon Reese and Coucoules were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and tampering with evidence.
