Governor Christie’s office has been billed nearly $1.1 million by the law firm it hired to investigate the George Washington Bridge lane closures.

And that only covers Jan. 12 through Jan. 31.

The final amount that state taxpayers will ultimately pay Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher will certainly be higher, according to the report on northjersey.com

The firm released a report on March 27 in which it concluded that Christie did not have knowledge of the lane closure scheme.

The $1,077,785.20 in charges includes more than 3,000 hours’ worth of work and $1,693 for photocopying.

All of the attorneys billed at a rate of $350 an hour, except for one paralegal who billed at $90 an hour.
