EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — Calling hours and funeral arrangements for former police Lt. David M. Algeri are set for Monday and Tuesday.

Algeri, 48, died Sunday of cancer, according to the Police Department.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Fresh Start Church, 1049 Ocean Heights Ave. The funeral starts at noon Tuesday; burial follows at Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Algeri graduated from the Gloucester County Police Academy and worked for Wildwood and Egg Harbor City police before he joined the Egg Harbor Township department in 1999.

Algeri served as patrolman, juvenile detective, sergeant and lieutenant in the Office of Professional Responsibility.

He helped create and coordinate the department’s Gang Unit. He coached youth in baseball, football and soccer.

Algeri is survived by his wife, Jodi; one son, Angelo; two daughters, Marla and Gina; his parents, Harvey and Mary Algeri of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Brian and Chris; a sister, Kate; and seven nephews and nieces.
