Atlantic City residents of all ages will have a chance for jobs this weekend.

Second Ward Councilman Marty Small is hosting a job fair Saturday at the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City.

“I’m excited,” Small said. “Any time you have an opportunity to improve people’s financial situation, it’s a win-win.”

Small said he is especially hoping to get jobs for those in his ward — where much of the city’s violence occurs — but that the day is for all residents.

So far, all but two casinos have committed to have representatives at the fair. Small said he is still waiting for confirmation from the Revel and Golden Nugget.

“I want to commend the casinos for showing commitment to Atlantic City residents,” he said.

From 9 a.m. to noon, those ages 14 to 17 can come for job opportunities. An adult job fair runs from 1 to 4 p..m.

There will be opportunities for full- and part-time employment, and even for those with criminal records, Small said.

It’s also not too late to for businesses looking to hire to join in the day’s events, he added: “We definitely need more businesses to step up to the plate to give our youth the opportunity.”
