Police responded to a call by Bally’s security at about 1 p.m. When they arrived, the 68-year-old victim told them a man stole her purse near Michigan Avenue and then fled on foot. The woman said the man yanked so hard she fell to the boardwalk and struck her head. She was examined at the scene and released.

Within minutes, Officer Tim Rose stopped a man matching the suspect’s description on the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue. The victim made a positive identification of the suspect, who was identified as Hand.
