EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — Police have identified one of the two suspects in a reported home-invasion robbery earlier this month in the Scullville section of the township.

At about 9:50 p.m. Oct. 3, police responded to a home on Princeton Avenue for a report of two armed men forcibly gaining entry and stealing from the home, Capt. Christopher Ruef said.

Bilal Freeman, 23, of Mays Landing, has been charged in the incident, Ruef said.

Freeman and another man, while wearing masks and armed, approached victims outside the home, Ruef said. They allegedly ordered the victims into the garage, duct-taped their hands and stole items from the home.

Freeman and the other suspect were described as male, thin, one wearing a hooded sweatshirt and “Halloween hockey mask,” the other wearing a dark-colored mask covering half his face, Ruef said.

Police said they recovered two handguns and other evidence left behind by the suspects.

Investigators called it an isolated incident that does not present an increased risk to other residents in the area.

Atlantic City police arrested and turned Freeman over to township detectives.

Freeman was charged with robbery, aggravated assault and weapons offenses. He was taken to the Atlantic County jail.

The State Police Aviation Unit and police from Pleasantville and Hamilton Township assisted with the preliminary investigation.

Police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information can call the Detective Bureau at 609-927-4051 or Atlantic County Crime Stoppers at 800-658-8477.
