MAYS LANDING – The Atlantic County Board of Chosen Freeholders will officially welcome two new members and one returning member during its annual re-organization meeting Tuesday at the Atlantic County Superior Court complex.

Democratic Freeholders-elect Caren Fitzpatrick and Ashley Bennett will be sworn in at 4 p.m. Monday following their election victories as part of a Democratic wave that swept throughout the state this fall. Fitzpatrick will serve as an at-large member of the board; Bennett will represent District 3, which encompasses Egg Harbor Township.

Republican John Risley will also be sworn in to another term after getting the second most votes in the at-large race this fall.

The freeholders will also elect a chairperson at the meeting. Republican Frank Formica is the current chair of the board.

After the re-organization, the freeholder board will consist of six Republicans and three Democrats, a change to the current makeup of the board that features eight Republicans and one Democrat.
