OCEAN CITY - The annual First Day 5K Run has been canceled because of icy conditions on the boardwalk and road surfaces, the city announced Sunday.

The race, which was supposed to take place of Jan. 1, will not be rescheduled, and anyone who pre-registered can pick up their race packets with t-shirts at the Ocean City Civic Center located on 5th Street and the Boardwalk between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m Monday.

The Polar Plunge has also been canceled because of safety concerns due to the frigid temperatures.

All First Night events, including fireworks at midnight, will continue as scheduled.

A complete schedule of events is available at firstnightocnj.com.
