An Ocean County builder who was found guilty of theft by deceiving investors has been sentenced to eight years in New Jersey State Prison, 

David K Haugland, 41, of Stafford Township deceived investors about his involvement in several area construction or proposed construction projects. The jury also found he sought to obtain a mortgate loan in excess of $75,000 by providing false information to a bank.

In addition to the prison term, he will have to pay $1,092,500 in restitution to his victims. 

Haugland was immediately remanded to Ocean County Jail to begin serving his sentence.
