ATLANTIC CITY — Police arrested an 18-year-old city resident Tuesday on charges of unlawful possession of a weapon and obstruction of justice.

Officers Anthony Abrams and Franco Sydnor located Tarik Jones at South Carolina and Baltic avenues. Jones was wanted by the Violent Crimes Unit as part of an investigation into a shooting Sept. 19, police said.

Police arrested and charged a 15-year-old boy in the shooting of city resident Shakeem Roberts, 20, in that incident.

As the officers were taking Jones into custody, he attempted to pull away from them, police said. A loaded handgun was found in his waistband after he was handcuffed, police said.

Jones was sent to the Atlantic County jail on $100,000 bail.
