RNC head cancels visit
with Christie Monday

A visit to Ocean City Monday by Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict, officials said Friday. But Republican gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie will still be present for the 5 p.m. grand opening of the headquarters for Mike Donohue and John McCann, the Republican Assembly candidates in the 1st District.
Steele and the New Jersey Republican Chairman Jay Webber will appear at a meet-and-greet in Vineland at 2:45 p.m. Monday at Larry's II Restaurant and Diner at 907 North Main Road. Donohue and McCann will be present to meet voters.

Crash injures bicyclist
A bicyclist was seriously injured Friday morning in a collision with a trailer being towed by a truck on West Perry Street, police said.
Joanne Walchak, of West Cape May and Media, Pa., suffered head injuries and was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, where a hospital spokesman said she was in critical condition.
Police said Walchak was traveling east on West Perry Street at 9:04 a.m. when she collided with a trailer being towed by Matthew Gheysens of Cumberland County. Gheysens was driving a truck owned by Caprioni Portable Toilets of Belleplain. No charges have been filed.
