Atlantic County will hold its first H1N1 clinic aimed at a more widespread part of the population.

The free clinic, to be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the old Value City store at Shore Mall in Egg Harbor Township, is open to:

•Pregnant women.

•People ages 10 through 24.

•People who live with, or care for, infants younger than 6 months old.

•Health care and emergency medical services personnel.

•People age 25 through 64 who have certain chronic medical conditions or weakened immune systems.

County health officials said a parent or guardian must accompany each child ages 10 through 17. Everyone who gets the vaccination must first sign an consent order.

The clinic is run by the Atlantic County Division of Public Health.

County health officials ran two earlier clinics for pregnant women and children age 16 months through 18. About 2,000 people received the vaccine at those clinics.

"Our goal is to vaccinate as many individuals within the target populations as choose to receive it," Atlantic County Health Officer Patricia Diamond said. Diamond said people who received the vaccine at the prior two clinics showed no serious side effects.

According to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, side effects suffered by the neary 22 million who received the vaccination thus far nationwide involved some temporary soreness or swelling where the shot was administered.

County health officials urged people to check with their doctors, health care providers and area pharmacies about vaccine availability.

Thats because there have been no reports of anyone 65 or older getting infected.

What is this crap about seniors over 65 don't need the shots? They should be near the top.Sounds like the Atlantic County officials are trying World War Two tactics to get rid of the old people.
