HAMMONTON - A fundraiser for Hammonton Police Officer Peter Hagerty will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot behind 12th Street Sports.
Hagerty is fighting stage two testicular cancer, and after using all his sick days, he is on an unpaid leave of absence. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help to pay the several thousand dollars in medical bills he has accumulated so far.
The event will feature family games, such as dunk tanks and moon bounces, as well as food from popular area vendors such as the West End Grill, The Pic-a-lilli Inn and Mazzagatti's Little Scoops.
Phillies starting pitcher J.A. Happ will sign autographs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.,
and 97.3 ESPN Radio will broadcast live.
After the event, 12th Street Sports will sponsor a bus trip to the Phillies-Red Sox baseball game Saturday night at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Tickets are $50 per person, and include transportation and entry to the park.
The fundraiser and bus trip will be held rain or shine. For more information, call Tony Sbarra at 609-561-4141.
