ABSECON - The count of H1N1 cases at Holy Spirit High School has reached 13, according to a letter sent Friday to parents of students there.
"We do anticipate a few more cases," Principal Susan W. Dennen's letter to parents read.
The Catholic school announced three confirmed cases yesterday less than 24 hours after Pilgrim Academy started a three-day closing because upper-respiratory infections had afflicted 20 percent of students.
Classes will resume Monday at the private Christian Academy in Galloway Township. No one has reported swine flu diagnoses there, according to Headmaster Christopher Storr.
Absentee and H1N1 rates are up in southeastern New Jersey this October compared with the rest of the state and with the same month last year, according to statistics from the state Department of Health and Senior Services.
Heightened concerns about the illness have kept more students home, according to health officials.
