The Atlantic County freeholders will vote Tuesday on a resolution to ask Gov. Chris Christie to rescind his order to enact the FEMA preliminary advisory base flood elevation map standards.

The resolution states the new standards to not take into account engineering such as dunes, seawalls and bulkheads, that in many cases it will bot be possible to raise homes to the new standards, and residents will not be able to afford either the increased flood insurance payments or to raise their properties.

Instead, the freeholders want to enact the standards on new construction or substantial rehabilitation projects and adjust the standards for existing homes.

The meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Longport Borough Hall, 2305 Atlantic Ave.
