FOLSOM — The former president of the Folsom Home and School Association has been charged with the theft of $26,113.87 from the group’s funds, State Police said Wednesday.

Detectives charged Donna Walters, 55, of Folsom, on Sept. 7 with illegally taking the money over a period of three years.

The group’s board members notified State Police, which patrols the borough, on July 25 about suspicious activity on the association’s account.

State Police said a complete audit of bank records showed Walters had accessed the association’s bank accounts for personal use.

In Walters’ personal bank records, detectives found dozens of transactions State Police deemed suspicious.

Walters was arrested at the Buena Vista station and charged with theft and credit card fraud. She was put in the Atlantic County jail in lieu of $30,000 bail, State Police said.
