ABSECON — A two-vehicle accident sent four people to the hospital including two children Wednesday afternoon.

Absecon police responded to Shore and Faunce Landing roads at 3:38 p.m. Police said Mark Vandenberg Jr., 19, of Absecon was driving north on Shore Road when he crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by George Blood, 66, of Brigantine.

Vandenberg and his front seat passenger — who was not identified — were taken to a local hospital, police said. Two children, ages 7 and 9, in Blood’s vehicle were taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for possible internal injuries, police said.

The Absecon Fire Department had to extract Blood from his vehicle.

The road was detoured for about an hour and the accident is under investigation.
