Egg Harbor City police Capt. Rick Kramer said four of the five juvenile boys who escaped today from the Harborfields Detention Center in Egg Harbor City have been apprehended, but one remains at large.

The juveniles were first located at the Egg Harbor City train station at Atlantic and Cincinnati avenues and were pursued by Patrolman Dylan Hutton who apprehended one of the suspects as four others fled, Kramer said.

Galloway police were then notified that four suspects were at large and residents in Galloway and Egg harbor City were notified through a reverse 9-1-1 call, he said.

Police then received a call from a resident on St Louis Avenue in Egg Harbor City who said three suspects had requested to use a phone. Police arrived and they took off running, Kramer said.

Galloway police chief Pat Moran said Galloway K9 Officer Mark D'Esposito and his k9 partner Zitounit assisted the Galloway, Egg Harbor City and Stockton police units in the search.

The three suspects were apprehended by police. One after he broke into a shed on the 200 block of Buffalo Avenue, a second who hid under a porch on Beethoven Street and a third who attempted to climb a fence on 7th Terrace, Kramer said.

One suspect remains missing. He is described as a black male, five-feet nine-inches tall and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

All five residents are from the Camden area.

Residents are asked to contact police if they see any suspicious behavior. The department’s number is 609-652-3705.
