A German shepherd chased an attempted robber out of a Mays Landing store Thursday afternoon.

Police said a man walked into Mays Landing Auto Parts at 4:14 p.m. and told the owner he had a knife and demanded the money in the cash register.

The owner called for his dog who chased the suspect out of the store, police said. No money was handed over.

The suspect is described as a black male between 18 and 22, 6-feet tall, with short hair, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt over a white T-shirt, jeans and white sneakers.

Anyone with information can call the department at 609-625-2700.
