The Galloway Township Business Association will mix business and pleasure next week at a get-together at Fred & Ethel’s Lantern Light Tavern in the Smithville section.

The Great Galloway Mixer, starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, is free for association members and $10 for nonmembers.

Mary Crawford, president of the association and an investment associate with Merrill Lynch, said the group holds such business mixers about once a quarter.

“We’ll introduce groups such as the business association and the rotary, which will be there. And then we’ll do personalized introductions, giving people a chance to say who they are and what they do,” Crawford said.

Then there will be time for people to meet, talk and exchange business cards.

Landscape connections

The 13th annual New Jersey Home & Garden Show that will draw thousands of consumers to Atlantic City Convention Center next week also presents a couple of opportunities for area businesses.

For one, many businesses have outdoor spaces just as homeowners do, spaces that can be inviting and functional ... or not.

The show will provide inspiration and advice on making the best of the first impression potential customers get when arriving at a business.

There will be free seminars and tips from celebrity experts for those who want to do some of the work themselves. Topics will include hardscaping, structures, plant materials and more.

The show also gathers in one place many companies and businesses in the home and garden sector, so any business with a product or service that might be useful to those businesses will find it a good place for B-to-B connections.

The New Jersey Home & Garden Show will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. March 8, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 9 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 10 at the Atlantic City Convention Center. Admission is $8.50 for adults, $5 for seniors, and free for ages 16 and younger.
