MAYS LANDING — A township home and two nearby vehicles were severely damaged in a morning blaze that drew firefighters from six nearby departments.

The fire was reported about 8:17 a.m. Saturday on the 5900 block of Seventh Street at a home owned by James DiBruno, 57. DiBruno and two other residents, Mondal Tharp, 56, and George Rankin, 57, had safely evacuated the home before firefighters arrived, Fire Chief Dave Connelly said.

No injuries were reported.

When firefighters arrived, the front of the house at Route 50 and Seventh Street was engulfed in flames, Connelly said. The fire was brought under control in about an hour, he said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation by Hamilton Township police.

Between 60 and 70 firefighters from Laureldale, Cologne, Estell Manor, Germania, Elwood and South Egg Harbor assisted with the fire along with the Hamilton Township Rescue Squad.

Staff writer Michael Miller contributed to this report.
