More information released in Tuesday night's shooting in Atlantic City

Steven T. Williams, 44, of Pleasantville, was shot multiple times Tuesday night in front of an apartment on Magellan Avenue at the corner of North Maryland Avenue in Atlantic City, police said.

Police released more information regarding the shooting Wednesday.

A dark SUV without headlights on was seen leaving the area, police said. Officers found the SUV on North Carolina Avenue.

Katrina Louise Hayes was driving, and she said she was headed to the hospital, police said. Williams was in the passenger seat, wounded.

Williams was conscious. He was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. He underwent surgery and is expected to live.

Hayes was interviewed. Cocaine was located in her vehicle and she was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. She was also wanted for an outstanding warrant in California.

Witnesses said the shooting suspect was a 5-foot-10 male wearing an orange or yellow shirt. He ran from the scene.
