Two female pedestrians were struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Atlantic City, police said.
Driver Andrew McCorkle, 20, of Egg Harbor Township, struck the two women with his vehicle about 11:30 p.m. at Pacific and Texas avenues, police said in a statement.
He stopped immediately to help the women, both of whom were conscious at the scene and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
Police did not identify the women. One is listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit with head trauma and a broken leg. The second woman is in stable condition with a neck brace and broken bones.
McCorkle was charged with careless driving and failure to yield to a pedestrian.
“The two female victims appeared to have crossed against the traffic signal,” police said. “Both women shall receive a summons for failure to obey a traffic signal at a controlled intersection.”
