Displaced voters

Voters who have been displaced from their home districts and counties can vote in a variety of ways, as Gov. Chris Christie has ordered to extend early voting times and to allow some to vote by e-mail or fax, noting those methods are not considered secret ballots.

Among the directives:

Displaced voters may cast provisional ballots at any polling place in New Jersey.

If a voter casts a ballot in a county other than where they are registered, the county in which they voted must either hand-deliver or mail via overnight delivery the ballot to the home county, which will then count the ballot.

Displaced voters may also submit a "mail-in" ballot via e-mail or fax. For more information on this method, call 1-877-658-6837 or visit www.elections.nj.gov.
