The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for much of New Jersey through 10 p.m. Thursday as thunderstorms are expected to sweep through the region later today.

Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Ocean counties are all included in the advisory, which means that there is a significant risk of severe thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes.

Thunderstorms with gusty winds and heavy rain are possible through the weekend.

Residents are advised to listen to NOAA weather radio or go to www.weather.gov for more information about hazards.
