ATLANTIC CITY -- A city girl was hospitalized with head injuries after she was struck by an allegedly drunken driver Sunday.

The 11-year-old bicyclist and another youth were crossing against the light at Delaware and Baltic avenues at about 3:10 p.m. when the girl was struck by a car, Capt. Bill McKnight said. She was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, which airlifted her to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Her condition was not available. Her name is not being released due to her age.

Sharon Dabney, 44, of Atlantic City, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and DWI within a school zone, police said.

The girl was not wearing a helmet, which may have contributed to her injuries, McKnight said. She also suffered injuries to her legs.
