An engine malfunction appears to be the cause of a fire that burned an Atlantic City patrol car Saturday night.
Officer Ferdinand Berrios Rodriguez left his patrol car while responding to a gun call at the Vermont Plaza apartments after 10 p.m., when he returned to see smoke coming from the car. Then, it caught fire.
Sgt. Monica McMenamin said the case was investigated, and that it appears it was a problem with the car. No one was injured in the fire.
