Atlantic City property owners who are 65 or older are now eligible for a $500 credit on their municipal property taxes, the mayor announced today.

“The $500 credit will provide property tax relief and help to ease the burden for our seniors,” Mayor Lorenzo Langford said.

The credit is available to qualified owner-occupied Atlantic City residents for their primary residences.

Eligible senior citizens must file a Municipal Senior Citizen Property Tax Relief Claim Form with the Tax Assessor, located in City Hall, Room #606, 1301 Bacharach Blvd.

Proof of age is required and a copy of one of the following: a NJ state income tax return, NJ Homestead Benefit application, or state property tax reimbursement -- Senior Freeze -- application.

To receive the tax credit this year, forms must be submitted by May 31. Those after will be given out next year.

Claim forms are available in the Tax Assessor's Office or at www.cityofatlanticcity.org. For more information, call 347-5380.
