ATLANTIC CITY - There was a little extra bite to a drug bust Friday.
Police seized a pound of marijuana, a gun, money and two small alligators from a home on the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Sgt. Rodney Ruark said.
An investigation by Detective Kevin Fair led to the home of Kemyatta Johnson, 38, who previously served nearly eight months in prison on a previous drug charge.
Inside the home they found about $2,000 worth of marijuana, a .22-caliber revolver, hollowpoint bullets and two alligators inside an aquarium in the common are of the house, Ruark said. The alligators were about 1½- to 2-feet-long.
They were turned over to the Humane Society because Johnson does not have a reptile license. The alligators would be given to the Fish and Game warden who would try to return them to their natural habitat, police were told.
Police also seized $2,631 believed to be proceeds from drug deals.
Johnson was charged with possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, possession of a weapon, possession of hollowpoint bullets, possession of a weapon while distributing drugs and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Johnson - whose first name sometimes is listed as Kenyatta - was held at the Atlantic County Jail on $100,000 full cash bail.
