Atlantic City police are looking for a person who sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl early Saturday morning in a portable toilet on the resort’s beaches.

The girl, a runaway from Pennsylvania, told police she met the man on the 3200 block of Pacific Avenue and walked with him onto the beach and into the bathroom. When the girl refused his advances, he beat her, sexually assaulted her, and robbed her of her money and cellphone, leaving her unconscious, police said.

The girl ran into a nearby restaurant and told police what had happened. When police arrived at 12:39 a.m., the girl was bleeding heavily from her face, had loose teeth, was crying and extremely upset.

Police said the victim could provide few details about her attacker. She was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment, where her parents, contacted by police, met her.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Atlantic City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit at 609-347-5766. Lead investigator is Detective Thomas Holton. Information can also be anonymously provided to Atlantic County Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234. Crime Stoppers provides as much as $1,000 for information that leads to indictment.
